Port Security: Don't Single Out Dubai
I think that Bush is right to threaten veto on legislation that blocks a Dubai based company from buying control of some US ports, from a UK company. If anything, it might lessen political grandstanding from both parties. As far as I can tell, this is a financial transaction, day-to-day operations and management will remain unchanged. Based on the reactions to the Danish cartoons (here is my post on that subject), the Arab world already perceives they are constantly being singled out.
Dubai is one of the most forward looking areas in the Middle East. It is the Singapore of the Middle East: striving to be the financial, commercial, and entertainment hub of the region. Unlike Saudi Arabia, Dubai does not prohibit non-Muslims from practicing their faith, and has even donated land for the construction of Churches. Expatriates I have met have had generally great things to say about the place.
Perform due diligence. The Bush administration prides itself on their COMPETENCE, and they have claimed to have vetted this deal. Alas, they said the same thing about the Iraqi insurgency, the Katrina response, the torture of POW's, and the NSA spying. Someone probably should verify they haven't screwed up again.
But let's not single out the one area in the Middle East that is attempting to modernize itself. It should be clear in short order if this deal should proceed, do not let it drag out.

U.A.E being Arab country (its not a democratic country and ruled by a authoritarian sheik,you can’t get citizenship and there and I have seen you can be let free what ever crime you have done if you are a Arab Muslim ) is the only one of the three of the countries in the world along with Pakistan to recognize and encourage Taliban in Afghanistan and in turn supported Mulla omer ,Osama Bin Laden which eventually led to 9/11 bombing in U.S.A. by Arab and Muslim terrorists. The financial sources for the 9/11 terrorists were proved to be found in U.A.E.
I have lived in U.AE and know that, In U.A.E,Dubai government has harbored international criminals , mafia dons and terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim and his allies chota shakeel etc(Who are living in Pakistan at present and wanted by Interpol, he is regarding and widely believed by CIA and other agencies to have connections with Al-Qaida, U.SA. termed him as wanted terrorist).Dawood owns a lot of properties and know to be very close to Dubai rulers.His son recently got married to an Pakistani man’s daughter in Dubai(U.A.E) hotel, this is only possible with the help of Dubai(U.A.E) rulers.
Even though U.AE has handed over some terrorists to Indian and other countries to resist the international pressure, they still patronize, illegal money laundering and give shelter to some of the world’s most dangerous criminals and terrorists.
This country facilitated and shipped nuclear material from Pakistan to Iran.(Even U.S authorities knows that, Pakistan and it’s A.Q.Khan network is involved in this , most of the U.A.E air ports and sea pots the staff are from hardline Islamic countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, who also would have contributed to this WMD transfers ).Thre is a scam in Iran around $ 6 Billion was paid to them from Iran in the cover of a gas deal.Now Iranian government is investigating this deal. its high time that U.A.E and its terror supporters should be contained and condemned by the civilised world.
I agree with free trade but in my opinion trusting this country to handle six of U.S.A ports is inviting another disaster like 9/11.This is danger sign not only to U.S.A but to all free and democratic countries all over the world.
I request you to consider my point of view and judge that what is the gaurentee that U.A.E will turn its back and again starts supporting terrorists.
This deal like US politicians conspiring with Dubai King to have another9/11 like incident in U.S.A and other free countries to achive power on the basis of fear.
